Above: With two car parks, a tea room, hotel, cafe, public toilets as well as a popular nearby pub, Monsal Head is a perfect starting point for exploring the Monsal Trail.
The Monsal Trail is perfect for a gentle stroll, for families with young children, or a cycle ride. But it has to be admitted that it can be a touch boring as a walking route.
It’s only when you step off the Trail and explore some of the footpaths that branch off it that you truly discover the wonders of the White Peak.
The walks I plan to feature here either start from the Trail, or cross it at some point. They will range between 2 – 15 miles, and pass along some gloriously picturesque dales, valleys and riverside paths.
It’s still very early days with this website, and I hope to have described around 24 walks by the end of 2024. If you have any ideas for walks that you think I should include, simply leave a comment below or send me a message.
